
The conclave will deliberate on key operational, technical and commercial challenges faced by the Compressed Biogas (CBG) sector. The discussion will focus on improving plant efficiency, optimizing feedstock utilization, deploying proven and scalable technologies and developing viable offtake and revenue models.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the “Compressed Biogas Conclave 2026”. “Compressed Biogas Conclave 2026: Moving towards an efficient and robust CBG production ecosystem” will be inaugurated on March 06, 2026 at Yashada, Pune.
This initiative is supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. There is also an alternative technical site visit to CBG facilities on the 8thth March 2026.
IFGE is a dedicated national trade body that has been actively engaged in policy advocacy for the green and bioenergy sector since 2014. IFGE works closely with industry, government and research institutions and regularly organizes conferences, conventions and knowledge platforms to support the structured development of bioenergy ecosystem in India.
The conclave will deliberate on key operational, technical and commercial challenges faced by the Compressed Biogas (CBG) sector. The discussion will focus on improving plant efficiency, optimizing feedstock utilization, deploying proven and scalable technologies and developing viable offtake and revenue models.
Under initiatives like SATAT, CBG is used in transport (refueling vehicles), industry (boiler fuel) and commercial sectors, with compulsory blending obligation (CBO) starting at 1% in FY 2025-26.

The objective of the platform is to enable direct and constructive engagement between industry stakeholders, policy makers, oil marketing companies, city gas distribution entities, financial institutions and technology providers, thereby strengthening the ecosystem for sustainable and bankable CBG projects in India.
