Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday said the government has approved procurement of gram, mustard and lentils under the price support scheme for the Rabi 2026 season, and urged states to fully utilize central funds under key agricultural schemes before March 31.
Chairing a virtual meeting with agriculture ministers and senior officials of eleven states, Chouhan took a detailed review of the progress under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) and Krishi Unnati schemes, an official statement said.
“As the financial year is coming to an end, it is essential that the funds provided by the central government to the states are utilized timely, appropriately and in the best interest of the farmers,” Chouhan said.
Under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for Rabi 2026, procurement of 7.61 lakh tonnes of gram was approved for Maharashtra, 5.8 lakh tonnes for Madhya Pradesh, 5.53 lakh tonnes for Rajasthan and 4.13 lakh tonnes for Gujarat.
For mustard, Rajasthan got approval to procure 13.78 lakh tonnes, while Gujarat was given approval for 1.33 lakh tonnes and Madhya Pradesh for 6.01 lakh tonnes.
