Diversified agri-business major Godrej Agrovet is expanding its product portfolio and strengthening its distribution network in the North and East for its crop protection business as a part of its growth strategy.
The company’s new plant for crop protection business at Dahej, Gujarat, which is expected to be operational by May this year, will manufacture existing products as well as newly launched products.
“New products are coming, so they require more production capacity. New formulations are also coming. We have made a commitment that every year we will launch a new product. In line with this overall business strategy, we have decided to set up a new manufacturing facility in Dahej,” NK Rajavelu, CEO – Crop Protection Business, Godrej Agrovet, told the media in Kolkata on Friday.
The company currently has two manufacturing plants in Jammu and Maharashtra.
multi crop insecticide
It has launched a new multi-crop insecticide “TAKAI”. Powered by Japanese technology, TAKAI provides quick control and long-lasting protection against major lepidopteran pests such as ‘caterpillar-type’ insects that damage crops helping farmers improve overall crop health.
Due to the nature of its product portfolio, the company has a very strong presence in the South and West.
“About 60 per cent of our total sales are coming from the south and west. We are now improving our distribution network in the east and north,” Rajavelu said.
“Our strategy is to promote at least 10 major crops in the country. Now we are present in five to six crops and we are introducing new products every year to capture the market,” he said.
