Crop protection and nutrition company Insecticides (India) Limited (IIL) recently organized an All India Product Stewardship Day. The initiative involved more than 425 meetings across different geographies, where farmers and channel partners were trained about the safe and responsible use of crop protection chemicals and reiterated about the key precautions to be followed.

With the participation of over 26,000 farmers, the program aims to strengthen responsible agricultural practices and support sustainable agricultural development. Under this initiative, some meetings were also organized in collaboration with KVKs (Krishi Vigyan Kendras) at their respective centres.

Agriculture is the backbone of the country and empowering farmers with the right knowledge is essential for sustainable development, IIL Managing Director Rajesh Aggarwal was quoted as saying in a media statement. Responsible use of crop protection solutions not only ensures higher yields but also safe food production and environmental balance.

Helping make informed choices

Agarwal said, “With this initiative, we aim to reach thousands of farmers a day and educate them on best practices, to highlight its importance, in addition to our regular safety programmes. At IIL, we believe stewardship is a shared responsibility.”

Dushyant Sood, Chief Marketing Officer, IIL, said: “At IIL, we believe that stewardship is a shared responsibility. We can make a difference. By equipping them with the necessary training along with practical safety kits, we enable them to make informed choices that benefit their crops, soil health and the overall well-being of everyone from the grower to the consumer.”

Crop protection solutions play an important role in increasing productivity by protecting crops from various weeds, insects and diseases. However, their application requires adherence to safety measures to prevent environmental degradation and ensure users and public welfare. Through this unique pan-India initiative, IIL seeks to empower farmers with practical knowledge, boosting efficiency while reducing hazards, the statement said.
